About this episode:
Kerrey served as a U.S. Navy SEAL during the Vietnam War. For his service, he received the Medal of Honor. While in Vietnam, he was wounded, permanently disabled and received from this injury a great gift: sympathy for those who are suffering and an appreciation for the capacity of government to save your life. Following his time in the military, Kerrey joined the United States Senate, where he was passionate about changing American lives for the better through education. This passion led him to lead The New School as President from 2001 to 2011 where he led unprecedented growth in education. Kerrey’s experiences in the military, government and education offer a multifaceted view into the world of mentoring.
