May 01, 2017 Press Releases

(Lincoln, Nebr.) – Talent Plus, Inc. ® would like to announce the official launch of Managing to Make a Difference: How to Engage, Retain, and Develop Talent for Maximum Performance, written by Larry Sternberg, J.D. and Kim Turnage, Ph.D., and published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Available in stores and online May 1, 2017, and offers a practical, real-world training manual for mid-level management.

Based upon their management experience, as well as Larry Sternberg’s catalog of blogs over the last several years, the book identifies key tenets of management along with actionable illustrations, lessons and experiments for anyone in management to consider. One manager shared this after reading the book: “Preparing to walk into my first experience in managing, and already reading just the intro to this book this morning & I’m imagining a totally different approach on day one… and I’m totally EXCITED! Not an approach I had ever thought of, but one I really wish I had experienced on day one myself, so I can’t wait to try it out. It is changing the way I see how this experience can be so awesome! So glad to have this resource to rely on and feel a lot less intimidated to take on this new challenge!… these authors seem to have a very human approach and clearly have your back.”

About the book: Managing to Make a Difference presents a leadership guide for those in the middle. The C-suite has a wealth of resources for leadership guidance, but middle managers face a quandary: often given little guidance on how to excel, they are also under enormous pressure to do a variety of things other than “lead.” This book provides much-needed tools and techniques for building a high-performing team – without letting your other duties suffer. Organized around a coherent philosophy and based on solid research, the discussion offers a roadmap to engagement, talent development and excellence in management. From difficult situations and organizational challenges to everyday motivation and inspiration, these techniques help middle managers achieve the goals of their organization while empowering their workers to achieve their own.
